Music trivia where the B-side wins

Every music fan knows the hits. Krillion asks for the ones only you remember. When the daily dive asked for a Beatles song, Hey Jude, Let It Be and Yesterday were what nearly everyone typed, and they scored the least. The gem was The Inner Light, a George Harrison B-side. For a Queen song it was My Fairy King, a track from their 1973 debut album.

This mode serves an endless run of music prompts: songs and albums by named artists, band members, instruments, musicals, boy bands, composers, chart toppers and Eurovision winners, from past daily dives plus prompts we write ourselves. 25 seconds a prompt, three lives, no daily limit.

Tips for music prompts

  • Go past the greatest hits. Album tracks and B-sides are valid answers, and they are where the rare points are.
  • Band members include the short-lived ones. Asked for a member of the Beatles, the gem was Jimmie Nicol, the drummer who stood in for Ringo on the 1964 tour.
  • Instruments run deep. "Name a musical instrument" accepted more than 3,000 answers, and its gems were the Daxophone and the Octobass. Folk and historical instruments beat the orchestra.
  • Watch the "too clever" trap. For a brass instrument, the saxophone was accepted but marked Too clever: lots of players reached for the same trick answer.
  • Read the brackets. Prompts with a date or a chart in them, such as a US number one or a UK top ten, only accept songs that meet that exact condition.

FAQ

Which music prompts come up?
Songs and albums by artists from the Beatles and Queen to Taylor Swift and Drake, band line-ups, instruments, Broadway musicals, composers, festivals, chart hits and Eurovision. New music prompts are added as they appear.
Do I need the exact song title?
Type the title as it is usually written. Small typos, plurals and a leading "the" are forgiven, but a lyric instead of the title won't match.
Is this the official Krillion music pack?
No. This is an independent fan-made game, not affiliated with krillion.io. Play the official game and its themed packs at krillion.io.
